What is a portal?A portal is another name for a home page. In this case, our portal is www.hargray.net We encourage you to make this your home page—the page your computer will automatically open to when you access your browser. How do I log in to the portal/home page?You log in to the portal/home page with your Hargray Communications email address and Password. You can call 1.877.HARGRAY (1.877.427.427.4729) to obtain an email address and Password if you do not have one. Log-in access is available in the upper right hand corner of the portal. How do I get back to the Hargray Communications portal home page?The portal has a home page, plus many other pages that you typically access by clicking on components or channels. When you go to another page, simply click on your browser's "back" button or choose "Directory" and then "Home" at the left side of the page. If you have not set www.hargray.net as your home page, and you navigate to other URL addresses on the web, when you want to get back to www.hargray.net you will need to enter www.hargray.net in the browser address bar to return. How do I download via Portal Settings (i.e., plug-ins, flash, etc)?To download programs necessary to support premiums content, such as flash or plug-ins, go to Portal Settings, then "Downloads & Plug Ins." In "Downloads & Plug Ins," select the program you are interested in downloading by clicking on the name. You will be taken to another page that will give you directions for downloading. How do I purchase Internet premium packages?While on www.hargray.net click on any ad for Variety Pack, Learning Edge, GameSomnia, or F-Secure. You will be taken to another page to learn more about the package. This page will also have a "sign up" button that will take you to a page where you can agree to subscribe to the Premium Package and have the cost added to your Hargray Communications bill. Back to TopWhat is a component?A component is a section of the portal that is complete within itself. It can be moved or removed within the space of the portal when you are logged in. For instance: "Weather" is a component on the page where you can get updated forecast information. Back to TopHow do I add/remove components?To add content, you must first log in to the portal. Once logged in, click on the "Add Content" button in the welcome bar. From here, you may select any component you'd like to add through the categories provided. To remove, simply click on the 'X' in the top right corner of each desired component. Back to TopHow do I move components?When logged in, hover your mouse over a movable component. A two-way arrow will appear. When you see that arrow, you may click and drag the component up or down within the column. Back to TopHow do I customize the TV Listings component?Several things can be customized within the TV Listings component. Click on "Settings" in the upper right hand corner of the component. You can adjust the following:
Click "Submit" after making your changes. This will return you to the home page, where you can see your changes. Using "Advanced Search" from the TV Listings component, you may search for shows by name, date, channel or category. You can sort them by date or title. Safely store your information, and get one-click sign-in for many websites.
How do I customize the Local page?The Local page can be found in the directory on the left side of the home page. The content on this page can be customized whether you are logged in or not—by clicking on "Local" and then entering your desired zip code and clicking "Submit." If there is a local component on the home page, the content there will also change to reflect the zip code input on the Local page. Back to TopHow do I search and customize the Movies Component? Customize my local theater?The Movies component and Movie Search component can be customized by inputting the zip code in which you desire the information. On the Movies component, "Favorite Theater" can also be customized by clicking on "Personalize." Back to TopHow do I update the Weather component?Within the Weather component, there is a box where you can enter any zip code. Simply enter a zip code to see the weather conditions in the place you are interested in. You can enter several zip codes and display several locations at once. They will display alphabetically within the component. To remove a location, simply click on the "x" next to the location name. You can also change whether the display is reported in Fahrenheit or Celsius by choosing the corresponding icon in the top right of the component. How do I access email?E-mail can be accessed in the upper right corner of the Hargray Communications portal home page. Back to TopWhat is "Downloads & Plug Ins"?The Downloads & Plug Ins utility determines if your computer has the necessary software to optimally use all of the services we have to offer. The Assistant examines your current configuration and indicates any necessary software updates in the table below. If all items list "OK" then you do not need to do anything. If some items show you should download software, then you can proceed by clicking on the links shown.
Why would I want to download the Hargray Toolbar?There are many helpful functions available through the toolbar. By adding the toolbar, you can have these functions available to you, no matter what Internet web page you are on. These functions include:
How do I download the Toolbar?To download the Hargray toolbar, click on the "Hargray Toolbar" button in the directory on the left side of your portal.
Will downloading the Hargray Toolbar put spyware on my PC?The Hargray Toolbar collects information, such as your IP address and zip code for the following purposes: to customize the content you see; to fulfill requests for products and services; to conduct research; to provide anonymous reporting; and to ensure that you always have the most up-to-date version of the Toolbar.
