Saints QB Drew Brees passes Brett Favre for most career completionsSeptember 23, 2018 6:44pm

Drew Brees has reached another historic milestone.

The Saints quarterback on Sunday set an NFL record for most career completions, passing Brett Favre's previous mark of 6,300.

Brees broke Favre's record with his 6,301st career completion as he connected with wide receiver Michael Thomas on a 17-yard pass in the second quarter against the Falcons.

Brees boasts the NFL records for career completion percentage (67.1) and single-season completion percentage (72.0 percent in 2017). He is also on pace to set the all-time record for career passing yards in the next few weeks. He's less than 700 yards shy of Peyton Manning's all-time mark of 71,940 career passing yards.

Brees, 39, has completed 65-of-80 passes for 682 yards and five touchdowns this season.

The Saints lead the Falcons 16-14 at halftime.
